Liverpool booked their place in the first major domestic final of the season following a tense clash at Fulham
Luis Diaz scored early on only for Issa Diop to ensure a grandstand finish with a 76th-minute equaliser
The result means Jurgen Klopp’s men have reached a third final in the competition during his tenure and a record 14th overall for the Anfield outift.
With plastic flags and clappers placed on the seat for every home fan, Fulham couldn't be faulted for their successful attempts to generate an atmosphere.
While Craven Cottage isn't exactly Galatasaray away, it wasn't particularly welcoming for Liverpool players.
Former Fulham youngster Harvey Elliott was jeered throughout
Alexis Mac Allister was targeted with a taunt of "You Brighton reject" from one Fulham spectator as he waited to return to the field after treatment having been clobbered by Tom Cairney.
His close proximity to the stand meant Mac Allister heard what was being said. And the World Cup winner responded by turning towards the fan with a smirk on his face.
Klopp resists
The release of delight and relief at the final whistle was tangible from Liverpool's players, not least Elliott who dropped to the turf in exhaustion after putting in a huge shift in midfield.
But while the travelling squad took the applause of a jubilant away end, Klopp resisted the invitation to bring out his trademark triple fist-pump after another memorable Reds occasion.
It was perhaps a sign the boss believes there will be more to celebrate in the coming weeks and months of a thus far remarkable campaign.
