Trent Alexander-Arnold was pleased that the Reds salvaged a 'morale-boosting' point - and explained his Man City goal celebration after silencing the Etihad Stadium
The Reds vice-captain stepped up to drag them to a point
Alexander-Arnold found his way around the edge of the City box and superbly arrowed a right-footed effort into the bottom corner
Trent
"For sure [it’ll boost us], we’ve played a lot better against Man City here before and lost so it’s a good result for us,"
"It’s something we needed as a team and it’ll instil that belief in us that we can go up against a team that won the treble last year that are top of the league. It shows we’re doing something right.
"I just don’t think we played particularly well to be honest, especially in the first half.
"Their formation and setup really challenged us and they had a lot of bodies in there which was difficult to deal with but we regrouped at halftime, came back out with more of a gameplan and pressed them.
"It’s always difficult, just subconsciously, to play against Man City because you always have a lot of respect for them but in the second half, we put that respect to the side and came to get a result."
Trent added
"It’s always good to celebrate in front of the home fans as the away team, it’s always funny, but it was about getting the job over the line and getting that point."
