Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt has admitted he expects Liverpool target Andre Trindade to leave the club in January.
The Reds made contact with the Brazilian club in the summer, only to be informed that Fluminense had no intention of selling
After Fluminense beat Boca Juniors in Saturday’s final to be crowned champions of South America for the first time in their history, Bittencourt has revealed he expects to receive a club-record bid for Andre after next month’s FIFA Club World Cup
Bittencourt
“We are waiting. Today, there is no concrete proposal for Andre,”
"But we are sure that after the World Cup - he will play in the World Cup - a stratospheric proposal will arrive
“It could be the biggest sale in the club's history. We could possibly lose both (Andre and defender Nino), but we are working to replace them.”
Andre’s agent, Carlos Leite, has lifted the lids on talks he held with Bittencourt regarding his client’s future both at the start of the year and in the summer, while also alluding to Liverpool's reported offer in the summer.
Leite
“He came to me and said that Fluminense had no interest in selling André this year,”
"I talked to the player, explained it to him, and he bought the idea. We agreed that it would only be traded from January 2024 onwards
“There were actually several proposals (in the summer), all of which came to me I forwarded to Mario, but aware that there would be no negotiation.
“Unless Fluminense changed its mind. He had no reason to sit with me, he is not obliged to sell anyone. But he had this concern.
“He doesn't have that arrogance and arrogance that some people have: ‘Look for my director.’”
