Andy Robertson has apologised to one Manchester United legend after winning his second Premier League title with Liverpool.

The Scotland international was restored to Arne Slot’s starting XI as the Reds thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 on Sunday to clinch the championship.

the Scotland captain has become only the third multiple-Premier League title-winning Scotsman - after compatriots Darren Fletcher and Brian McClair.

Robertson was asked if he could name his fellow multiple-time winners when interviewed on Sky Sports after the final whistle.

And while he remembered Fletcher, he forgot fellow former Red Devils star McClair - leading him to apologise to the Manchester United old boy before paying tribute to Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish.

Robertson

“Darren Fletcher, I am guessing. I couldn't tell you [the other],”

"Sorry Brian! For me, when I came to this club, I know it feels a long time ago now. I've been here a long time now.

“"When I came here you quickly realise how good Scottish players have been at this club. We are standing looking at Kenny's [Dalglish] stand. How many legends there are from Scotland.

"There is a little bit of pressure with that but I kind of just took that on board.

“Also, I don't think Liverpool have ever won a trophy without a Scottish player in it. So I am glad I managed to continue that.

"I won't be anywhere near Kenny but I am glad I have won a few trophies here and I am just delighted I can just kind of carry that forward."

Robertson admitted that celebrating winning the title with supporters meant more than when he first won it behind closed doors in 2020.

Robertson

"It means the world - it means everything to us,"

"The people at Anfield, the people outside Anfield, they have made it a special day for all of us and one we'll remember for years and years to come.

"Obviously, the last time, we were devastated not to be able to do it in front of them.

“For the lads who have already won it, that was the driving force for the next few years and it's took us a little longer than we probably wanted to, but that's been what's driving us forward to experience it in front of fans.

"To give a generation that hasn't seen us lift the trophy that experience. I'm sure there were a lot of tears of happiness in the stadium.”

Robertson continued: “The last time we won it was a stranger time, but I suppose we kind of got that feeling against Man United at home.

“It was pretty much done at that point with [being] 16 or 19 points clear. It’s not like quite clinching it and then obviously the world paused. It was quite unique the way we did it.

“We enjoyed it, of course we did, but you can’t beat what we experienced today and how we went to the ground and the fans during and after the game. Nothing quite compares to that and I’m glad we got to experience it that way as well.”
