Robertson is one of 10 Reds players currently competing at the continental tournament in Germany

Alexis Mac Allister, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Alisson Becker, meanwhile, are also representing their own countries at Copa America.

With Liverpool set to report back to the AXA Training Centre at the start of July, the 14 internationals will all miss the start of pre-season training under new head coach Arne Slot.

Traditionally, the Reds grant their internationals a three-week holiday following international excursions, with Robertson not expected back until mid-July as a result.

Liverpool confirmed they will host Sevilla at Anfield in their final pre-season friendly of the summer on August 11, following a pre-season tour of the United States

The Reds are yet to confirm their plans before they jet out to the United States.

While Robertson’s return date has become clearer, Slot will likely have to wait a little while longer to meet the rest of his internationals for the first time

The Copa America group-stages won’t conclude until July 2, meaning Liverpool will likely be left without their South American quartet when they fly off to the United States

Mohamed Salah, Wataru Endo, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Kostas Tsimikas, Stefan Bajcetic, Jarell Quansah and Conor Bradley will all be part of the Reds squad that report for the start of pre-season

Following Scotland’s Euro 2024 elimination, Robertson apologised to Scotland supporters ‘for letting them down’ also hinting at possible international retirements.

"There's nothing really to say to be honest. We gave it everything,”

“We knew we had to win this game, both teams had to win and they've hit us on the counter-attack.

"We’ve had our chances and I think it could have gone either way, but that's football - that's how it goes. It will take a long time to get over this one…

"We did go for it, but we got sucker-punched. A draw wasn't going to be enough realistically. Both teams had to go for it and unfortunately one of us had to lose.”

"That’s what we have to do but that’s not for tonight,” Robertson continued when asked if he can see Scotland continuing their development and qualifying for future international tournaments.

“That’s what we have to hope in the future but tonight, and for a long time, we have to get over this unfortunately. It's a tough one.

“With international football, sometimes you lose players and things like that. We’ll see what happens with that.

“Tonight is devastating, there’s no buttering it up. All the lads are absolutely gutted. It’s up to us to pick them up, but that only happens slowly but surely.

“What I will say is thank you to the country because we felt everybody behind us. We knew the excitement back home, sorry for letting you down."
