Arne Slot has responded to Mohamed Salah’s exit warning after Liverpool's 3-0 victory over Manchester United.
The Egyptian was the star of the show after recording a goal and two assists in Sunday's Northwest derby demolition at Old Trafford
Following the game, however, Salah dropped a bombshell claim over his future by stating it is his "final season" in a red shirt
in truth that is not incorrect as things stand, with the 32-year-old yet to be offered a new deal.
Slot has responded to the winger's comments following the game by claiming that he is "happy" Salah remains at the club for now in an honest verdict.
Speaking to the Independent following the game,
Slot said
“It's a lot of 'if', at this moment he's one of ours and I'm really happy with him being one of ours, he plays really well. I don't talk about contracts of players but I can talk for hours about performance - are you interested in that?"
While it offers no real clarity over Salah's future, Slot's comments are enough to suggest that he would be happy for the Egyptian to remain at the club
And it's not hard to see why, with Salah putting in another man-of-the-match display at Old Trafford
Salah now has six contributions in just three games.
Along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, Salah has entered the final 12 months of his contract and will leave at the end of the season on a free transfer as things stand.
Why Liverpool hasn't offered him fresh terms yet is a mystery
yet Salah has already shown this season that he still has so much to offer in a red shirt despite turning 32
But a player of Salah's pedigree could go well into his thirties and that's something that's becoming clearer with each passing week
Liverpool really should extend his current deal at least for another two years.
While Slot refuses to speak directly about the Egyptians future, it's hoped that the Liverpool hierarchy are taking note and will sort his situation out sooner rather than later
Salah can speak to clubs freely about pre-contract agreements as soon as January.
