Bobby Clark is confident there is more to come after a "decent" first Premier League start - and revealed how Alexis Mac Allister has become an inspiration
After five previous top-flight substitute appearances, Clark was handed a full debut in the competition in the 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who was signed from Newcastle United in the summer of 2021, twice came close to scoring
Asked when he found out he was starting,
Clark said:
"It was yesterday (Friday) in training when we were doing walkthroughs for the game. I thought I was decent (against Forest) but could have done a lot more given what I know I can do, but it was alright.
"I do feel as though I'm taking it in my stride, but it all comes from the gaffer and all the players.
"They fill you with confidence and let you do your thing. If you don't have a manager like that, it's going to be much harder."
Clark added
"It's mad," said Clark of the reaction on the bench when Nunez scored.
"I always had the feeling we would do something with the top players we have got on the pitch, and Alexis with the calmness at the end and Darwin putting it in, it was top.
"Every day I'm learning off the other players, especially (Alexis) in my position and what he did at the end was special.
"It was a great way for it to end. Obviously I was grateful to get my first start in the Premier League.
"When I came off, things were out of my control but I knew something was coming and that late winner was top."
