Daniel Sturridge says Michael Edwards and Mike Gordon's presence at Liverpool will help negate a drop-off following the departure of Jurgen Klopp.
Sturridge spent close to six years with the Reds and played under Klopp for over three of those, winning the Champions League in 2019l
The former striker believes Klopp, whose near nine-year stint saw him win eight trophies in total, should be recognised as one of the club's greatest ever managers
Sturridge says his knowledge of how Edwards - who returned to the club officially on Saturday,' - and FSG president Gordon operate gives him the confidence that the Reds won't suffer
Sturridge
“[Klopp] did unbelievable things,"
“I don’t think those were the expectations when he arrived. The relationship he had with people was magnificent. He’s going to be remembered as arguably the greatest Liverpool manager.
“Now the club are in a transitional period. New manager, players coming out of contract — it’s just that kind of time. But the backroom team is amazing.
"I know the Mikes (Gordon and Edwards). I’m sure they’ve analysed the manager they’ve brought in (Arne Slot) and will know his style marries well with the current squad and will have their eyes on players they want to sign too.
“I don’t have any concerns Liverpool will slip away.”
Sturridge scored 67 goals in 160 appearances in total for the Reds, with 33 coming in the 2013/14 season
Sturridge added:
“I’m grateful to God. I’m being honest with you. From my side of things I think I could have not made it.
“There’s so many players who had the talent when they were kids and for whatever reason the route didn’t go the way they wanted it to go. I count myself not as lucky but someone who is extremely blessed, grateful for everything I’ve achieved in life.”
