Liverpool booked its place in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup — where it will face Fulham home and away
David Moyes, who has now gone 21 matches at Anfield without a win, was keen to lavish the Reds with plenty of praise
Moyes pointed out that he was always expecting a response after the goalless draw with Manchester United last Sunday which left Jürgen Kloppand his players frustrated.
Moyes:
"Liverpool played very well and obviously we didn't play well enough,"
"The second goal was a killer when we were beginning to grow back into the game,"
"We gave them a really poor goal that made it really hard for us to get back and get any form of result.
"We didn't do particularly well in some areas for some of the goals and we could have done much better.
"We beat Arsenal [in the previous round] and then we probably had the hardest draw of all coming to Anfield.
"We made a few changes to try and give people chances to show what they can do and because of the scheduling, and we were up against a really strong opponent.
"It's a tough place to come and that is how it proved. We are not making excuses but we are involved in a few trophies.
"We're looking forward to the European one. Tonight was disappointing but we played against a really strong team that played really well.
"They were really fast and competitive and we found it very difficult to even get a foothold."
