Diogo Jota says there’s something Liverpool players keep on spotting about Federico Chiesa whenever he plays

Liverpool enjoyed a good day in the FA Cup on Saturday as they beat Accrington Stanley 4-0.

It was not always a completely straightforward game for a heavily rotated Liverpool side, but there were so many positives from an enjoyable afternoon at Anfield.

One of the biggest moments of the match was a first ever Liverpool goal for Federico Chiesa.

Chiesa has had a tough start to his Reds career, and the sight of the Italian wheeling away in front of the Kop was a welcome one.

But according to teammate Diogo Jota, the Liverpool players are already well aware of the danger Chiesa can pose to opposition teams.

Chiesa’s goal could hardly have been better timed.

With the January transfer window in full swing, there have been suggestions that the 27-year-old could leave.

Reports have claimed that Napoli hold an interest in Chiesa, and there is a slight feeling that if Liverpool make good on their interest in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, then Fede could perhaps go the other way.

He had in fact been expected to start against Accrington, but Slot confirmed illness had prevented Chiesa from beginning the game

Chiesa got his goal anyway. And speaking to LFCTV after the game, fellow goal-scorer Jota was not surprised.

Jota

“Everyone is very happy for him,”

“Obviously he didn’t have much game time since he arrived.

“But we can see every time he’s on the pitch he looks dangerous, he can score and luckily for him and for us he did that today and [he is] another one to build up.”
