Federico Chiesa poised for fresh opportunity as Liverpool star ruled out of Nottingham Forest

Chiesa during the FA cup v Accrington Stanley

Arne Slot made eight changes to his Liverpool side that beat Accrington Stanley in the FA Cupon Saturday.

Jarell Quansah, Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota were the only players to retain their starting berths as the Reds ran out 4-0 victors.

Progressing to the fourth round of the competition, Slot was pleased to hand minutes to a number of his lesser-used stars

Jayden Danns came off the bench to score his first goal of the season, while fellow substitute Federico Chiesa scored his first Liverpool goal

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha became the youngest starter in Reds history after being handed his debut by Slot.

Captained by Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Liverpool vice-captain was also on the scoresheet in spectacular fashion

Trent is likely to keep his place for the Reds’ top of the table clash with Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

But Slot is likely to rotate the rest of his side, having given seven of his senior players the afternoon off altogether against Accrington

While Alexander-Arnold will likely keep his place after completing 60 minutes against Accrington, the rest of the back five will almost certainly change for the trip to Forest.

Alisson Becker will return in goal while Virgil van Dijk will captain the side. Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson was an unused substitute against Stanley but is likely to return

Dominik Szoboszlai completed 45 minutes against Accrington after illness, with it remaining to be seen if he will be fit enough to start again against Forest.

Ryan Gravenberch was afforded a day off on Saturday so will certainly return, with Alexis Mac Allister able to partner him

Darwin Nunez will miss the trip to the City Ground through suspension

Despite lively showings and goals up front v Accrington Stanley, it would be a surprise if Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo did not all return

However, given Nunez’s enforced absence, Chiesa could be in line for only his second Premier League appearance - and first since September

Danns is also an option in reserve after also impressing off the bench against Accrington.
