France star finally set for Premier League move after being told to join Liverpool by Cesc Fabregas

Monaco star Youssouf Fofana looks to be set for a move to the Premier League after being told by Cesc Fabregas to join Liverpool -

Youssouf Fofana has already snubbed Manchester United.

The French international midfielder is expected to wear the Les Bleus jersey in the upcoming Euros.

Fofana, 25, has drawn considerable interest from the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and United, with the latter reputedly making unsuccessful overtures in the last summer

Monaco's sporting director Thiago Scruro confirmed that Fofana rejected an approach by United under Ten Hag late last year.

Scruro lauded Fofana's decision to continue his football journey with Monaco, stating: "He deserves most of the credit.

"(Fofana) believes in our project and made the decision to stay longer at Monaco to continue his development.

“He has big ambitions with the French team and AS Monaco."

Given the looming expiry of his contract within a year, it is looking more likely that Fofana will make a shift to the Premier League come the summer.

Fabregas has offered some pearls of wisdom to French prodigy Fofana, suggesting that if the chance came up, he should make the move to Liverpool

Although the scene at Anfield has changed since, with Arne Slot taking over from Jurgen Klopp, Fabregas believed that Fofana would excel under Klopp's high-octane playing style.

When I came [to Monaco as a player], Thierry (Henry) and Vadim (Vasilyev) also asked me to help grow the young people. It was an important point.

"Today, I feel like I have won the respect and sympathy of this younger generation. I hope I have helped.

“We like each other. I will continue to follow them and exchange with them. I would like to see Fofana, (Sofiane) Diop or (Aurelien) Tchouameni at Bayern or Liverpool."

With his sights set firmly on Euro 2024, Fofana is tipped to be a pivotal figure for France in the upcoming tournament

When probed about his future plans, he hinted at a likely departure from Monaco come the summer

Fofana revealed:

"I have spoken about it with the hierarchy, it isn't a secret. We had exchanges and they agreed to accompany me in this new stage.

"If [a move] doesn't happen, I still have a year left and I will be happy to stay.

“We were in agreement that we would accompany each other in this process in which everyone should be a winner, be it me or the club."
