Rio Ferdinand reckons Dominik Szoboszlai is being 'overhyped' in his debut season at Liverpool.
Liverpool splashed out £60m on the Hungary international this summer
Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch were also brought in after several high-profile departures in that position.
Szoboszlai, 23, hit the ground running following his transfer from RB Leipzig with marauding displays in the middle
Ferdinand says the jury is still out amid one or two comparisons with Steven Gerrard.
Ferdinand
Everyone's hyping him, but I don't think Dominik Szoboszlai has done [as well as people say].
"[Some people are saying] 'Oh, he's the next Gerrard'! I haven't seen that yet."
Ferdinand added:
"I see bare of their [Liverpool fans'] comments. But one of my mates in my group always says it, but he's easy on the eye."
Szoboszlai has played 26 games for Liverpool this season - scoring four goals with three assists - but the midfielder is currently nursing a hamstring problem.
Szoboszlai wears the No.8 shirt Gerrard called his own during a glittering career at Anfield and beyond.
