Jurgen Klopp saluted another impressive showing from Wataru Endo – as he prepares to wave goodbye to the Liverpool midfielder.
Endo was an integral performer as the Reds earned a 2-0 Premier League win at relegation-threatened Burnley
After a slow start to his Liverpool career following his summer arrival from Stuttgart, the 30-year-old has stepped up in defensive midfield
Endo, though, will leave after next Monday’s home game with Newcastle United to represent Japan in the Asia Cup
Klopp
“I loved his game, I have to say. It’s a bit of a shame he’s found his feet and now he goes to the Asia Cup. That’s how it is. It’s fine.
“What a boy. What a player. Very important, but in January we have to play more or less without him. But against Newcastle he is still here. Then the boys leave and then we have to find another way and we will.
“For the moment, I am really happy for him. It took him a little bit to really show how good he really is, but now we can see it. I’m really happy about it.”
With Jarell Quansah making only a third Premier League start.
Klopp added
“It was top. Really good. We have so many games and Jarell is a fixed part of this first (team).
"With the amount of games we play there are not line-ups, as long as they are all fit one will start and the other will not.
“He did really well. He is a good footballer, which was really helpful. It helps him a lot to play next to Virg. He can play with Ibou (Konate) as well, but Virg is a step up in leadership I would say, which helps for sure. It was a good performance, I liked it a lot.
“Joey (Gomez) today, defensively solid and offensively from time to time. It’s all really good.”
