Liverpool are currently two points ahead of Manchester City, who lost by the same scoreline to Bournemouth on a day that also saw Arsenal beaten 1-0 at Newcastle United.

The strike moved Salah above Robbie Fowler and into eighth on the all-time list of scorers in the Premier League with 165

with just over six months to go on his current Reds contract, it's unclear how much further up the rankings the Egypt captain will go.

The No.11 can speak to clubs outside of England about a pre-contract agreement in under two months' time

in an Instagram message, Salah talked up what it means to be top of the table, even at this relatively early stage of the campaign.

"Top of the table is where this club belongs."

"Nothing less. All teams win matches but there's only 1 champion in the end. That's what we want. Thank you for your support last night.
