Ian Wright agrees as Alan Shearer left blown away by 'unbelievable' Liverpool moment at Anfield

Alan Shearer and Ian Wright were both left stunned by the quality of Mohamed Salah

Salah struck a brilliant goal after Cody Gakpo had equalised to move the Reds top of the table at Anfield.

It was Salah's 164th Premier League goal, moving him above Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler to eighth in the all-time scorers list,

Shearer was in awe of Salah's quality and fellow pundit Wright couldn't help but agree as the pair sung his praises after the game.

Shearer said: "We expected Liverpool to pick up because we knew what Arne Slot would be saying at halftime. Gakpo said about picking up the energy and that's exactly what they did.

“Then all of a sudden you're thinking Liverpool are going to win this.

"There's not many people, if any, better than him (Salah) in that position where he wants to get it onto his left foot. It's all right saying you can't let him, it's another actually stopping him.

"Once he gets in that position, you know you're in desperate trouble. It's unbelievable. How many times have we seen him do it? "

Shearer added: "He's a great player, whatever happens with his contract, he's incredible, world class and I love watching him."

Wright also paid tribute to Salah's influence on the game, while adding that Liverpool were proving their title credentials by showing their resilience with their fightback in victory.

Wright said: "In the end, Liverpool with the quality that they've got finished them off. But it was a really good performance from Brighton.

”But Liverpool are showing exactly what you need to do.

"It's really difficult to keep Liverpool off you when they are shooting into the Kop.

“It was a quiet game for Mohamed Salah but then, just like he did at Arsenal, if you get him in this situation you cannot let him come inside. It's very easy to say but it's very difficult to stop.

"You're watching that game and you're thinking that Mo Salah hasn't said much. But you know when it comes down to it he's probably going to show himself and that's what he did."
