Dominik Szoboszlai is targeting an immediate return to the Champions League at Liverpool after completing his £60m move from RB Leipzig.
the Hungary captain insists he was not concerned about the Reds' Europa League status when they began negotiating with his representatives over a move last week as he insisted he has hit "the jackpot" by signing for Jurgen Klopp.
Szoboszlai stated his intention to win the Europa League next term as he aims to inspire Liverpool back to the top table of continental football.
Szoboszlai
"I can accept that I won't be able to play in [the Champions League] for a year and the goal is to win the Europa League,"
"Liverpool are competing in four competitions and I want to help them win as many of them as possible. When I heard there was a lot of interest, I didn't think about the Champions League.
"Rather, it is about winning the Europa League with Liverpool. My goal is to win titles. The more of them. In England, we will have four options next season. I've won something every year in my professional career so far, and I want to continue this streak and be part of that success, with anything – minutes played, goals, assists – that I can contribute.
"You have to work, that's the answer to everything, because sometimes in Leipzig they appointed a coach who didn't trust me, who believed in others more – I didn't despair, I trained for myself, for my future, and then a coach came along who already believed in me and gave me the opportunity to prove myself.
"It's been a tiring time and there's still work to be done, but of course I'm really excited. Now I have the opportunity to rest for a few days, return to Liverpool on the 10th and take part in the first training session with my new team the next day.
"Then we go to Singapore but I've already met with the team's strength coach, the physiotherapists and I've been given a separate training plan, I know what I need to do in the next few days.
"Obviously in training I will have the opportunity to show what I can do and if they find my kicking technique right, maybe I will have the opportunity to get behind the ball. But for me it's more important to get as many opportunities to play as possible and when I had the opportunity to talk to the head coach, Jurgen Klopp confirmed that it was up to me. Exactly what position they expect me to hold has not yet been discussed, it will be established.
"[To play for Klopp], for me this is the jackpot! I think he will bring out a side of my game that I don’t even know exists yet. I can’t wait. I always think day by day, weekend by weekend, game by game.
"I managed to move from Salzburg to Leipzig, which was a big step then. But I didn't think Liverpool would pay £60m for me. Especially not so soon. Also because I was injured in the first half of [my time at] Leipzig."
