Carragher has praised the fast starts of Liverpool's summer signings and their respective roles in reshaping Jurgen Klopp's midfield department.
A complete revamp of the midfield department undertaken at once always represented a risk, though the Reds have reaped the rewards.
Each of their new recruits have quickly adapted to their new surroundings, providing the team with a new lease of life on the back of bidding farewell to a selection of stalwarts.
Jude Bellingham was the player fans were hoping to see arriving at Anfield, though disappointment over this transfer saga has gradually dissipated as a result of Szoboszlai's stunning start to life on Merseyside
Carragher
“Szoboszlai looks brilliant,"
"He looks almost like one of the best players and if he wasn’t playing in a game, you would really miss him.
"It’s not just his creativity or his shooting ability, it is his physical impact: the pace and power he has got in terms of the ground he covers and the challenges he is involved in.
"If he doesn’t have his best game with the ball, he is still having a huge impact.
"There was always that balance with Liverpool and the last midfield was always talked about as being hard-working with a little bit of talent, which I don’t think was right. They were very skilled players. But this new midfield is probably seen as more creative, but they have got great work ethic as well. They will be described as a completely different midfield, and they are slightly different from what we’ve had before, but is more exciting and flashy on the eye when you’re seeing Szoboszlai hitting shots from outside the box. We haven’t had that since Steven Gerrard, hence the comparisons. There is a little way for him to go to reach that level, but it looks like Liverpool have done really good business in that area."
"With Szoboszlai, you are seeing the real deal right now. As for Gravenberch, he hasn’t played as much, you are looking at the potential and thinking it could be something really special there," continued Carragher. "You are seeing signs of that, the way he moves and glides past people. There is something there and, if Jurgen Klopp and his staff can make that into something good, we could have a really special player. Just looking at him, he looks like a footballer: the size, the physique. He reminds me a little bit of Patrick Vieira, that way he glides through with the ball. You can see signs of that."
Carragher added
“Curtis has done really well,"
"The best way to describe the role he is playing is that it's a bit Wijnaldum-esque. It is not eye-catching, but I think everyone appreciates the job he is doing.
"The big turnaround that has happened with him is that he is moving the ball on much quicker and is just playing two-touch.
"That’s all he needs to do, keep moving the ball on with speed. He presses really well, he’s got great energy and is good at winning the ball back - and that is a bit Wijnaldum-like. Wijnaldum didn’t get lots of goals or create lots of goals, but you have got players in midfield already to do that. That’s Szoboszlai’s role.
"The role Curtis is playing is not being missed by people who understand the game and watch what he does.
"He is playing most games for Liverpool with Jurgen Klopp as the manager. Klopp has spent a lot of money on midfield players and he is still playing Curtis Jones every game, which shows how well he is doing."
