Jurgen Klopp 'couldn't care less' about Darwin Nunez Liverpool moment

Jurgen Klopp has played down Darwin Nunez’s calamitous miss in Liverpool’s 5-1 victory over Toulouse.

The Uruguayan had already scored for the Reds in the first half when he beat a defender, rounded goalkeeper Guillaume Restes, only to then hit the post

Fortunately for the striker, Ryan Gravenberch spared his blushes by slotting home the rebound.

Klopp was full of praise for Nunez as he told reporters that he ‘couldn’t care less’ about the comical miss

Klopp

“He played incredible,”

“Honestly, in this moment I couldn’t care less that he hit the post because everything before was super convincing.

“It was absolutely clear. How he took the defender away, how he passed the goalie. It was a perfect situation.

“He played really good. The goal he scored, the situations he was involved in, dropping into midfield, staying on the ball, all these things. There were a lot of good things and he is in a good moment.

“For us that is obviously important. I’m really pleased for him with the performance. Yes, it is a bit of slapstick that the ball doesn’t go in. Ryan finishes it off then it’s cool.

“But I said before the game, he is happy man in the moment and you can see that every day. We have to make sure it stays like that.”

Klopp also reacted to the performances of both Gravenberch and Wataru Endo.

Klopp

“I really like him (Gravenberch), as a boy and as a player,”

"It is really nice to see how much he starts believing in himself again. That is obviously very important for a young player especially so that is cool.

“Lots to improve still, lots to improve. It’s good because everyone sees the good signs and the potential he has but there is so much more to come. That’s good.

“I like a lot of individual performances but I would like to mention Wataru Endo. I am not sure people think it’s spectacular but the forward passes he played tonight were absolutely incredible.

“How often he broke lines with one touch, that was absolutely insane. Then he scores a wonderful goal, which helps each player, even a more experienced player, so that’s really cool.

"He would have got a similar hug (to Ryan) if I had taken him off but he had to play through.”
