Klopp was delighted with how his Liverpool side responded in the win over Brentford after disappointing performances against Luton Town and Toulouse.
a Mohamed Salah brace and further strike from Diogo Jota saw them bounce back in style at Anfield
Leapfrogging Arsenal into second in the Premier League table in the process, the victory ensured that Liverpool would be the side closest to reigning champions Man City
with Klopp well aware of the deadly threat Brentford posed to his side, Klopp was thrilled with his side’s comfortable win.
Klopp
“100 percent, that is exactly (what I wanted),” he told reporters when asked how about his side’s reaction after losing to Toulouse.
“Losing a game, playing not too well, makes not a lot of sense.
“It’s just when you think about the season, when you look back to other seasons, there was no season when you won all your football games. So if it happens, you have to have the right things out of it and make the right conclusion.
“I am really pleased that we used that opportunity to lose against Toulouse and then react in the way we did today.
"We’ll never find out but maybe if we had won against Toulouse with a fantastic performance, then we struggle today completely against Brentford. That’s absolutely possible.
“We have these struggling moments around set pieces, you cannot avoid them. The wind plays a part. But how we control the moments we could control was absolutely exceptional.
“In all the moments we could keep the ball on the ground and we could play football, with Darwin [Nunez] connecting the game for us exceptionally, we were super dangerous.
“We scored wonderful goals to be honest and it was a really good performance against one of the most difficult opponents you can face.”
Klopp continued:
“We had a very young bench and in a set-piece game, with Harvey [Elliott] and Lucho [Diaz] not the set-piece specialists, let me say it like that, to bring on, it was a bit tricky so it was clear that a lot them have to play really, really long.
“And because Brentford never change, they change details but not the general plan. 1-0 down, no problem, 2-0 down and you’re one set-piece and game on.
“So we came through that period with six corners. I am not sure that ever happened before, they have six corners and didn’t score.
“But it was just good focus, work-rate and then, on top of that, playing football and overcoming (setbacks) a little.”
