Jurgen Klopp reignites Sergio Ramos feud with criticism of 'brutal' Liverpool incident

Klopp didn't mince his words on Sergio Ramos as he revisited the 2018 Champions League final, when the former Real Madrid defender put Mohamed Salah out of the gam

Salah went into the final having scored 44 goals in 51 appearances for Liverpool that seaso

Salah lasted just 31 minutes as he was forced off after being hauled down by Ramos.

The Egyptian initially tried to play on with the injury but it quickly became apparent that he wouldn't be able to, and he exited the pitch in tears.

Ramos was also involved in a collision with goalkeeper Loris Karius, which left the goalkeeper concussed and may have contributed to the two costly errors that the German made

Klopp appeared on a podcast with former Real Madrid player Toni Kroos and discussed the incident, saying:

Klopp"Is Mr Sergio Ramos really a good guy? He's not my favorite player. The action was brutal.

“Of course, he can't know that it's bothering his shoulder, but we all know that he accepted it very happily.

“I could never understand that mentality, I never had players like that and, when I did, I made sure they left."

Kroos defended Ramos, describing him as a "very good teammate,"

Klopp responded: "He may not be my favorite player, but it doesn't matter. I always thought that my center-backs were good enough not to be involved in actions like that."

Addressing the incident back in July 2018, Klopp said: “I’m not sure it is an experience we will have again – go there and put an elbow to the goalkeeper, put their goalscorer down like a wrestler in midfield and then you win the game.

“That was the story of the game. Ramos said a lot of things afterwards that I didn’t like.

“As a person I didn’t like the reactions of him. He was like: ‘Whatever, what do they want? It’s normal.’ No, it is not normal. If you put all of the situations of Ramos together then you will see a lot of situations with Ramos."

Ramos bit back a month later, saying: "Some of us have been operating at a very high level for many years - I'm not sure he can say the same".

Ramos added: "He will be wanting to explain not winning the final, but it's not the first that he has lost."
