Jurgen Klopp believes new Borussia Dortmund boss Nuri Sahin will be a "super" coach.
Sahin, who played for Dortmund from 2005-2011 and then from 2013-2018, has been announced as the new head coach of the Bundesliga side
The news has been welcomed by ex-BVB boss Klopp, who believes the 35-year-old will be a great success at the helm of the famous club.
Klopp
"At 35, Nuri is a very young coach, but so was I,"
"I definitely believe that after his outstanding career as a player, he will also become a super coach. Of course, I wish him the greatest success at BVB."
Sahin, who also had stints at Real Madrid and a brief spell at Liverpool, takes over from Edin Terzic
Klopp's belief that the former Turkish international will be a success at Dortmund is propelled by the strong relationship the pair had at Dortmund during their time together.
The midfielder made 274 appearances for the club as a player and returned in January as an assistant coach
Sahin's best spell at Westfalenstadion came under Klopp, when the former Werder Bremen man enjoyed major success winning the Bundesliga in 2010/2011
Following his triumphant spell at Dortmund, Sahin left Dortmund to sign for Real Madrid that summer and Klopp told him at the time that he had a "friend for life".
The feeling seems to be mutual with Sahin. Speaking to Goal in May 2021, he praised Klopp for his "human" quality.
Sahin
"There is no doubt about his coaching — he is very good,"
"But what I love most about him is that he’s human. He touches you on a human level... This is what I loved about him and what I learned about him."
Sahin moved into coaching with Turkish side Antalyaspor when he retired from playing in 2021.
He took his team on an undefeated streak in the season run-in securing the team's top-flight status and ultimately finishing seventh in the table.
His performance in Turkey earned him a place as Terzic's assistan
Sahin has now been drafted into the hot seat.
