Jürgen Klopp just gave Fabinho late transfer gift

Fabinho has every right to feel a little let down by his boss over the past 12 months.

The Brazilian midfielder has been an established member of Jürgen Klopp's squad since signing for Liverpool from AS Monaco back in 2018, but last season, he was left open to attack.

Fabinho has been nicknamed a 'Dyson' by Klopp in the past, simply because of his innate ability to hoover up loose balls within his vicinity.

He painted himself as one of the best holding players on the continent for Liverpool but in recent times, he's appeared tired.

Now aged 29, Fabinho could have progressed beyond his peak, but he also wasn’t helped by last summer’s poor transfer window.

For most of his time in England, he's been surrounded by legs and industry in the center of the pitch. Fabinho isn't the most mobile of players, but that has never mattered as Klopp has ensured that his nearby teammates have masked that weakness by almost covering ground for him.

Twelve months ago, though, that stopped happening. Having missed out on Aurélien Tchouaméni, Liverpool refrained from signing a new midfielder from the market, which was a bold move considering Jordan Henderson was aged 32, and Thiago Alcântara was aged 31. James Milner, who is now 37 years old, was presented with a new one-year contract, and Naby Keïta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were empowered to get over their injury concerns, which didn't end up happening.

This summer, however, it seems Klopp has realized his oversight from 12 months ago, and he's looking to fix it.

Fabinho has been presented with two transfer gifts so far. They are overdue and have perhaps arrived one year too late, but Mac Allister and Szoboszlai have the qualities to restore Klopp's famous press in the coming months.

The whole team will benefit, but nobody more so than Fabinho.
