Stephen Warnock has hailed the "masterclass" delivered by Trent Alexander-Arnold
The Reds' right-back had a hand in the first and second goals scored by Jurgen Klopp's side at Anfield
Trent has been given the same license to roam the centre of the pitch as in recent months, resulting in him registering the joint-most Premier League assists in 2023
Warnock noted an interesting tweak to this approach during the triumph over Villa.
Warnock
"A lot of the game, he ended up playing as a centre-back,"
"It's almost like they've tried to find a balance in the team to protect themselves defensively.
"He almost played like a quarterback and it was brilliant to watch because we know the capability of him.
"If you just keep your eye on him and Joel Matip, they change positions,"
"Matip goes out as a right-back, Alexander-Arnold wanders into a centre-back position.
"When he's on the ball, he is calm, composed and waits for the right opportunity It was a masterclass in passing from Trent Alexander-Arnold."
Jermaine Jenas believes there is plenty of reason for optimism despite only being four games in.
Jenas
"I think Liverpool fans should be really excited,"
"The whole transitional process is getting to the adult phase now. They have brought in a group of players that Jurgen Klopp is going to work with and it is starting to gel.
"Defensively, there is still a few things they have got to work out, but you are looking at them from an attacking point of view and going 'This is starting to happen'. It is really exciting times."
