Klopp admits he has no idea in which position Alexis Mac Allister is best suited for Liverpool
Mac Allister will be back on the South Coast on Sunday to face the Seagulls for the first time since making a £35million move to Anfield
The 24-year-old shone during pre-season on the left side of Liverpool's midfield three but has featured for the majority of the campaign in the number six role
But Klopp believes there remains plenty of time for Mac Allister to determine his ideal position at Anfield.
Klopp
"We didn’t even look for his best position yet,"
"We just use him. He is a fantastic player, I love everything about him, super smart tactically and off the pitch as well, so that is really nice to work with."
"If we as a team defend well, he can play definitely the six. Did I know that before? I had a guess but I was not sure because I did not know exactly how all the other boys would do defending.
"Because we defend more compact and better than in our bad phases last year, we have small spaces and then it is really good because he sees the situations really well and we have a really good footballer and it is really cool.
"But best position? He is too young for me to know it but he is a midfielder, I can tell you that. He is a midfielder and I am happy about having him."
Klopp added:
"Whichever options you have, if you play like you played last year you will get a massive knock again. That is how it is. We should play better and I think we can play better and we have to make sure, that is the first step."
"Brighton had now a few results which did not go exactly their way but that is a completely normal situation in their development. They made a lot of changes, lost top players, one of them we got - and still played incredible football.
"We could only watch a little bit (of the Marseille game) before our game, we couldn’t see the first half when they were 2-0 down, we saw the second half when they put Marseille massively under pressure and got a point there.
"We expect a really tough game against one of the best sides in the league, the best coached team in the league I would say because of where they are coming from.
"Yes, Graham (Potter) did already a lot of good stuff and that is a really smart move from Potter to (Roberto) De Zerbi and they made really big steps, super consistent, different formations, different players, line-ups and you always see Brighton football and I couldn’t respect that more.
"I am really looking forward to the game because we have to put a few things right because you can look once silly but you should not look a second time silly. That can happen because they are really good but we have to do better."
