Klopp has seemingly played down the possibility of signing a new centre-back on deadline day
Klopp also ruled Ibrahima Konate out of Liverpool’s clash with Aston Villa
The Reds have agreed a deal with Bayern Munich for Ryan Gravenberch, with the Netherlands international set to become their fourth midfield signing of the summer
Konate missed that win over the Magpies with a muscle injury, and speaking ahead of Sunday’s game against Villa, Klopp confirmed that the Reds will again be without the Frenchman.
Despite the pair’s absence emphasising the potential need for a new centre-back, Klopp hinted that Liverpool won’t be signing a new defender on deadline day.
Klopp
“If we could bring in a centre-half for a weekend, we would think about it,”
"No, we can’t. Ibou, no, he will not be ready for the game.”
Klopp confirming that Thiago Alcantara had suffered a setback in his recovery after undergoing hip surgery earlier this year.
However, Curtis Jones should be back available to face the Villans after returning to training.
Klopp added
“Curtis is back in training fully. Thiago, not,”
"Thiago had a little setback. He started training with the team and had a little setback so we have to slow down there a little bit.
“It’s not cool for him, it’s not cool for us but it’s how it is. Thiago will use the (September) international break for that, to be up to speed I’m pretty sure. It should hopefully be enough. All the rest are available.”
