Klopp says the best place for Luis Diaz is out on the football pitch, insisting it is his “safe space” as the fight to release his father goes on.
The Liverpool manager looks set to name the Colombia international in his starting line up against Toulouse
Klopp has revealed there are “positive signs” over the kidnap of Diaz snr.
Luis Manuel Diaz, is still being held captive by the National Liberation Army of Colombia (ELN)
(ELN), have confirmed they will set him free, as government troops have withdrawn from an area in the mountains where he is thought to be held.
Klopp
"He decided last week he will not go to Colombia - because he cannot go to Colombia so he is here and when he is training it is a safe place and the matches are a safe place.
“He wants to be with us. He feels being around the squad helps him. He has travelled and he is available - there is no real news (on his father) but there are positive signs, and (we are waiting for) the real news.”
Virgil van Dijk, Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch were all left out of the squad with illness or injury.
Klopp though, revealed that the plan was always to make changes for the Europa League, with Liverpool close to qualifying after just three matches
Klopp added
"We want to play a strong team and go through as soon as possible - that was always the idea,” he explained.
“But we have already had a lot of games this season and if you would have to play the same team all the time it's not possible. We made the changes, we will make changes tomorrow – there will be a few probably – and it will be a strong team.
“It is nothing to do that we put more emphasis on this competition or that competition. We just want to win and for that you need fresh legs with quality and that will be the same for tomorrow.”
Klopp continued
"Ben has shown up for us and played really well in preseason. He made an impact in the Europa League and then he had his injury,’”
“Now he is back in full training and he is an option for us tomorrow, which is really helpful for us. Ben has obvious quality, so that's why it is really helpful.
“If you would have asked me pre-season would Jarrell be that good I would have been surprised. But since then I saw him every day and I am not surprised any more. It's great to have a boy from our own academy with that potential and quality. We will see where he ends up - it is extremely promising.
“He is good on the ball, aggressive in the challenge and has everything you need with a lot of room for improvement and development and that's the best news for Liverpool.”
