Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Dominik Szoboszlai has suffered a hamstring injury but says he is hopeful the Liverpool's midfielder's absence won't be prolonged.
The Hungary captain has featured in all 20 of the Reds' Premier League games since moving from RB Leipzig
Asked for an update on the 23-year-old, Klopp indicated on Friday that Szoboszlai is now set for a period of absence
Klopp revealed the payer himself is upbeat about his prognosis.
Klopp, conceded that Szoboszlai won't feature on Sunday against Arsenal in the FA Cup or next week's Carabao Cup semi-final first leg with Fulham at Anfield.
Klopp said
"I can confirm it's not a potential injury, it is an injury,"
"It's a muscle injury, a hamstring. How long we have to see.
"Dom is very positive, doesn't have a lot of pain but we have to see a bit so no chance for Sunday or Wednesday and then we will see after that.
"Hopefully he might be back but we don’t know. Besides that nothing else really happened, yesterday the rest were available and fully fit so let's hope that today is the same and we will pick."
Klopp also revealed Nat Phillips is set to remain with the Reds until the end of the month after his return from a short-term loan spell with Celtic.
Liverpool remain open to offers for Phillips but the manager is keen to keep him around the AXA Training Centre until later in the month
Klopp added:
"With Nat we have to see and and we have to consider our own situation and he will definitely be with us until the end of the month. We will have talks and see out situation, that is how it is.
"We really think highly of both (Phillips and Rhys Williams) because of the things the boys did when they were here. With Nat it didn’t work out really with Celtic 100%.
"He had a few injuries but at a team like Celtic if they are in a positive moment then you are in the team but if they have a not so positive moment and you are in the team then you are out. So that says nothing about the quality. Nat will will train with us and then we will see how it develops.
"With Rhys it is slightly different. He will train with the Under-23s. I will have to talk to him about why the loan spell didn't work out.
"The boy I know I would expect to play in Scotland 100% from the first until the last if you are not at Rangers or Celtic where it is slightly different and he didn’t so we will have to talk to him and we will see.
"I haven't done that yet but I will definitely do and then we will see the outcome of that conversation."
Owen Beck could form part of the match-day squad at Arsenal after being recalled from Dundee
Klopp said:
"We always were pretty positive about Owen but then he had two difficult loan spells,"
"It was a surprise that it didn’t work out because of what we thought about Owen but that’s how it is with young boys. When you send them away from home, plenty of things can happen.
"Things always have to fit well – it must be the right manager, must be the right team, if they have another left-back there who is experienced. There are so many things which can make a loan spell not really happen.
"But at Dundee everything was fine and he made big steps. Now the situation here is clear – we lost two of our left-backs so it makes sense to bring back a boy we like who is available to us."
