'Know him personally' - Jordan Henderson 'reputation' defended by ex-team-mate as Liverpool transfer




Clinton Morrison has defended Jordan Henderson over his imminent move to Saudi Arabia.


The Liverpool captain is edging closer to sealing his switch to Al-Ettifaq, managed by Steven Gerrard,



Criticism has come the way of the England international as he closes in on a surprise move away from Anfield, with the LGBTQ+ community feeling betrayed by the No.14 as he prepares to move to a country where homosexuality is a criminal offence.


Henderson has previously served as an ambassador for Stonewall's Rainbow Laces campaign and has been vocal ally of those involved in this sphere.

“The money that is being talked about and, at Jordan Henderson’s age, you can understand why he has gone to Saudi Arabia. It’s life-changing money for his family.


“He’s going to work with Steven Gerrard. It’s a project. He wants to be part of the project. Steven Gerrard is building a project there and he wants to be a part of that. He is definitely going for the money.


“I don’t think it’s damaged (his reputation). I know him personally, I played with him at Coventry. It’s not damaged, in my eyes, for Jordan Henderson to go there.”
