Liverpool have reportedly tabled a massive £78 million five-year contract to Trent Alexander-Arnold in an attempt to fend off interest from Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants are said to have a similar £300,000 per week deal on the table for the 26-year-old, along with a substantial signing-on fee if he joins as a free agent in the summer.
According to the Mirror, this has left the player torn between staying at his home town club and cementing his status as a Kop idol, or joining arguably the world's biggest football club
Liverpool believe they've done all they can to persuade Alexander-Arnold to stay at Anfield during the prime years of his already illustrious career.
The report says there have been no demands from the player to be made captain.
He is aware that he is the natural successor to Virgil van Dijk when the Dutchman's time as a regular first teamer comes to an end.
However, this is non-negotiable for Liverpool who are in the midst of what could be a Premier League title-winning season.
The player himself is against leaving in January, unwilling to disrupt the team, reports the Mirror.
Meanwhile, he's kept quiet about his future, considering both options on the table.

“I have signed four or five contract extensions and none of those have been played out in public – and this one won't be either."
As reported, Liverpool are feeling more optimistic about Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk signing new two-year agreements
Now eligible to talk to overseas clubs, there's significant interest from abroad and Saudi Arabia, particularly for Salah, yet he's keen to prolong his stay at Liverpool
