Liverpool are poised to complete a sensational move for Moises Caicedo after agreeing a club record fee for the Brighton midfielder.
The Reds thrashed out a deal with the Seagulls in the early hours of Friday morning and are now set to pay a British record £110million for the 21-year-old, having outbid Chelsea for the player.
The Londoners are understood to have gone up to £100m.
Liverpool have scheduled a medical for today with it understood personal terms will be a formality with Caicedo
Caicedo could be confirmed a Reds player by the weekend,
The transfer would represent a huge coup for Jurgen Klopp, who has been in desperate need of a proven defensive midfielder
Caicedo had previously been deemed unobtainable by the club due to his high price tag, but the £52m raised by the sales of Henderson and Fabinho have given Liverpool more room for manoeuvre
Chelsea had been front-runners to sign Caicedo having been in negotiations with Brighton in recent weeks.
But the lack of progress in that move encouraged the Reds to act
