Liverpool are reportedly in the market for a player that could follow in the footsteps of Arsenal star Martin Odegaard
The Reds are yet to make their first signing of the summer, but the continued rumours suggest that is likely to change in the near future.
Slot will be working alongside sporting director Richard Hughes to identify and target new signings before the window closes on September 2.
One player who has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent days is Takefusa Kubo.
The Real Sociedad star has emerged as a potential target for Liverpool, with reports speculating that an agreement may be close
It has been reported by Sports Nippon that Liverpool are on the verge of reaching an agreement on a deal worth €60 million (£51 million) to sign Kubo
The article also states that the 23-year-old's agent has already travelled to England to negotiate a deal for Kubo
Kubo has scored 16 goals with 14 assists since he signed for Sociedad back in 2022.
Should the ring winger sign for Liverpool then he would be following a similar career path to Odegaard.
Before starring for Sociedad, Kubo was a Real Madrid player but did not make a single appearance for the La Liga giants
Instead, Kubo had a series of loan deals before eventually finding a permanent home at Sociedad.
Odegaard had a similar career with Madrid, making just 11 first-team appearances across the four years he was contracted at the Santiago Bernabeu.
He enjoyed a loan spell with Sociedad during the 2019/20 season, and eventually signed for Arsenal in a deal worth up to £34 million back in 2021.
