Wataru Endo expects to get his chance in the Liverpool first-team soon after barely featuring so far under Arne Slot.
Slot, 45, has enjoyed a dream start to life at Anfield since succeeding Jurgen Klopp earlier this summer, winning all three of the Premier League matches he's helmed so far.
Endo was one of four midfielders signed by Klopp last summer but the Japan international has only featured once this season
The midfielder, though, feels that his chance to impress is coming given the Reds have a flurry of fixtures coming with the new Champions League campaign set to kick off soon.
Speaking after Japan's thumping 7-0 win over China,
Endo said: “When the international break is finished there is a run of games so I'll get more chances.
“You can't just use 11 players when you have a lot of games. I'm sure I'll get my turn.”
Endo made 43 appearances in all competitions during his maiden season at Anfield and earned high praise from Klopp
Endo was the subject of interest from Marseille back in July.
The Reds rejected said offers, though, and Slot recently stressed the midfielder remains a big part of his plans.
Slot said:
“It is not always about the player himself, it’s also about the competition he faces. We have many good midfielders like we have many good players.
“We are really pleased with the way Wata is training for us but he has some good competition and I think you saw today a good performance from all three midfielders, so it is not always about him – it is also about the others.
“He will be important for us during the season because we need all of them; we all know how long a season can be over here and how many players you need – and he is one of them that we are going to need in the upcoming season.”
Liverpool face Nottingham Forest next weekend in the Premier League before getting their Champions League campaign underway with a trip to AC Milan three days later.
