Luis Diaz has noticed what keeps happening at Liverpool matches as rumours swirl about his future

Luis Diaz, had been with the Reds approaching 18 months before the first sounds of a song dedicated to his talent began to emerge.

But Liverpool supporters have been making up for lost time this season with repeated airings of the ditty celebrating the Colombian to the tune of traditional Italian tune Bella Ciao

Diaz's performances since Christmas - eight goals and five assists - explain why it has become a popular chant, particularly among the travelling Kop

it hasn't gone unnoticed from the player himself.

Diaz

“Well, it's something beautiful and special because every time we go out to give it our all,"

"To uphold the institution, the club, to do what I came to do from the first moment I arrived.

“I always wanted to perform well. I always wanted to be one of the best, trying to respect everyone.

"Seeing the fans sing that song, that beautiful song, leaves you something very nice marked for you, to take as a memory, I'm very happy.

“I thank them very much for what they are doing. I always go out to the field happy because I know I have their full support."

Only Virgil van Dijk has made more Premier League starts than the 30 managed by the 27-year-old

Diaz's performances over April were sufficient for him to be voted the club's player of the month

Diaz added:

"I'm very happy. I'm contributing to the team as I've always wanted to do with goals, assists, playing well.

“The team comes first before the individual, and scoring a goal at Old Trafford is incredible for me, for the team.

"I helped in that way, so I will continue to do my best to keep scoring in big stadiums and keep doing great work."

The rumours may continue to swirl over Diaz's future this summer, not least given the flirting of his father with La Liga sides.

it's clear the Colombian has become one of Liverpool's most prized - and popular - assets. The incoming Arne Slot will surely prefer to hear more of Diaz's song next season.
