Luis Diaz is on the verge of achieving his ‘dream’ with Liverpool after sharing his pride at his Reds career to date.
The Colombian has returned 15 goals and five assists from 46 appearances so far this season, with Arne Slot’s side on the verge of winning the Premier League title.
Liverpool need a maximum of three points from their remaining five games to be crowned champions, though could even win without playing if Arsenal lose to Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
Alternatively, if the Reds slip up in the forthcoming weeks, they could still win the title by denying the Gunners victory at Anfield next month.
Diaz saw Liverpool’s title challenge fall apart in the final weeks of last season, while he was also a member of the side that missed out on the league by a solitary point to Man City back in 2022.
The forward is a firm fan-favourite with supporters, with his chant one of the most popular on matchdays.
And Diaz, who has been linked with a Reds exit this summer, has revealed just how much he cherishes his connection with supporters and what the club means to him as he looks to help Liverpool clinch the title.
Diaz
“It’s a source of pride to see the fans of Liverpool, one of England’s great clubs, sing for you like that, support you like that,”
“It is what I’ve always worked for.
“That’s what I want for my career, to always be remembered for my game, to leave my mark on Liverpool.
“We’ll keep working this way so they feel comfortable and keep singing and cheering on the team, which is the most important thing.
“I have many memories from when I was a kid. Because I always dreamed of winning a title with Liverpool and especially the Premier League and it’s close. So I am very happy, very content.
I am very grateful to God because he has me here today, fighting for the Premier League title, which we have dreamed of for so long.
“Personally, it was something I always wanted, it was something that was close to being achieved, and well, I know things are going to work out for us.
“We’re going to have a great game in the next one. We’ll try to rest now, enjoy the moment, and stay calm so we can do it again in the next one.”
