Mohamed Salah admits he remains “far away” from agreeing a new Liverpool contract
the window prepares to open on the Egyptian being able to hold talks with interested clubs from abroad.
Salah continued his outstanding season with a goal and two assists as the Reds romped to a 5-0 Premier League win at West Ham
Liverpool and Salah’s representatives remain locked in talks over a new deal with his current agreement due to expire at the end of the season.
With the 32-year-old due to become a free agent, he will be in a position to reach a pre-contract agreement with clubs from outside of England when the transfer window opens on Wednesday
Salah, though, has previously expressed his desire to extend an Anfield association that started back in 2017
asked after Sunday’s game if he was ready to provide some good news for Liverpool supporters,
Salah replied:
“We are far away from that, but again I won’t want to put something in the media and people start saying stuff.
“Nothing has really moved on and now I’m focused on the team and I hope to win the Premier League.”
Salah isn’t the only Liverpool player due to enter the last six months of their contract, with both Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold approaching a similar situation
The Reds are in discussions with parties from both players.
