Mohamed Salah received a cheeky telling-off from a Liverpool staff member following his interview with Sky Sports on Sunday, although not for the reason you’re perhaps thinking of.
The Egyptian added to his impressive tally against the Reds’ biggest rivals as he scored the third in the 3-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday, having already bagged two assists as Luis Diaz put Liverpool in the driving seat at Old Trafford.
It’s Salah’s comments after the game though that are drawing the most attention at the moment.
The 32-year-old dropped his biggest hint yet that he could be set to leave the club next summer.
Speaking to former teammate Daniel Sturridge on Sky Sports post-match, Salah admitted there had been no contact from Liverpool yet over a new contract, with his current deal set to expire in less than 12 months
Salah
“As you know it's my last year in the club,”
"I just want to enjoy it and not think about it. I feel I'm free to play football and we'll see what will happen next year."
Salah did backtrack somewhat on those comments, adding:
"I was coming to the game, I said look, it could be the last time [coming to Old Trafford].
“Nobody talked to me yet about contracts, so I just play my last season, and we'll see at the end of the season.”
“But so far, yeah, my last game here with Liverpool."
His comments sparked plenty of panic among Liverpool fans, with Arne Slot being asked about his situation afterward, although the Dutchman once again refused to be drawn on the subject of new contracts.
But while some supporters may have been left fearing the worst, Salah himself was the epitome of calm following his interview.
During some behind-the-scenes footage from Old Trafford, the forward can be seen making his way back to the tunnel after speaking to Sky Sports.
Salah can be seen wearing nothing on his feet bar some ankle supports, with one member of Liverpool’s staff cheekily telling him off by saying: “Mo, put some shoes on will you?”
Having scored at the weekend, Salah became the first player ever to score in seven straight visits to Old Trafford.
His overall tally against United now stands at 11 Premier League goals and six assists – hopefully it won’t prove to be his last visit to the Red Devils.
