Rob Edwards has outlined what a 'really good occasion' Liverpool's visit to Kenilworth Road will be, although made it clear his players won't make it an easy task for their Reds counterparts.
Sunday's meeting will be the first between the two clubs in the Premier League, and also the first since a 5-0 Liverpool victory in 2008's FA Cup.
Edwards, who guided the Hatters to promotion via the Championship Play-Offs during his first season at the club, knows what the task at hand involves to claim a shock result
Edwards
"We're looking forward to it like we have for every game.
Really good occasion - these are the types of games that we wanted to have here, this is why we got promoted and the next thing then is to prepare well and acquit ourselves well in the games as well,"
"We want everyone to try and enjoy it but at the same time we want to try and find a result."
"It's difficult because most people don't [stop Liverpool]. We've got to be really good, we've got to defend really well as a team.
"At the right moments we've got to try and be very good with the ball.
"We've got to try and attack at the right moments with the right speed and again, that is difficult against a team that are very good at winning the ball back and counter-pressing quickly.
"It is a very difficult challenge but also clear - we know what's coming. Liverpool won't change for us so it's a good one to prepare for. I'm looking forward to it."
Luton's only win of the campaign to date came away from home against Everton.
Edwards continued
"We want to turn up the heat and press at the right moments, we want to be more aggressive, but at the same time we can’t open up too many spaces too soon either, so balance is the key,"
"If you leave any spaces, they can expose you and hurt you really quickly.
"Our job is trying to find a way to get a result in the game. There’s ways to lose games, but I don’t want to then be opening up against teams like this as you can be exposed to some big scorelines as well, and that’s not what we want at all.
"We want to make sure we’re in the game come the latter stages, to be able to have a right go as well, so balance is the important message there."
