'Not happy at all' - Alexis Mac Allister makes 'crazy' Liverpool admission as problem highlighted

Alexis Mac Allister admits Liverpool lacked composure against Manchester United as he revealed the reaction in the dressing room

The Reds came from behind to lead their bitter North West rivals but ultimately had to settle for a 2-2 stalemate at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

It meant Arne Slot's side missed the opportunity to move eight points clear at the Premier League summit with a game in hand

And Mac Allister pointed to an inability from Liverpool to control the game as chief reason for dropping points for a third time at home this season.

Mac Allister

"I think the team is really disappointed,"

"It's not what we wanted but at the end it's a fair result. I think we couldn't control the game as we wanted. So, we have to take the point and move on.

"I think we couldn't get to the positions that we wanted. We looked like (we were) in a rush. We are not happy with the performance at all but at the end it's a point and we are still top of the league, so that's important.

"We have to be very positive. I think today is going to be a day to reflect but from tomorrow on we are going to keep being positive and that's going to be important for the team."

Mac Allister was also asked if there were any changes asked of Liverpool by the coaching staff following an under-par goalless first half.

Mac Allister replied;

"Not really, just to remind (us of) the positions that we had to occupy, the way we wanted to press,"

"But I think in the second half it was like a crazy game, we conceded too many chances, we had our opportunities as well to score goals.

"I think the mentality is there and that's really important as a team to come back like we did today. But at the end when you are winning 2-1 (after) 75 minutes, you have to defend the result and we couldn't do it."
