Klopp regards becoming an "honorary Scouser" as one of his greatest achievements after the shock announcement he will step down as Liverpool manager in the summer.
Klopp dropped the bombshell news that he will leave Anfield at the end of the season after almost nine years in charge
Since arriving in October 2015, the 56-year-old has embraced living in Merseyside and has become part of the fabric of the city.
Klopp:
This is the best club in the world, it is outstanding. Everything about it. Being an honorary Scouser is probably one of the best things I have ever achieved in my life. It's absolutely outstanding.
"The way these people deal with difficulties is a role model for me. I learned so much here. It is a lot of fun (being in Liverpool) and it is still a lot of fun.
"I had no clue what to expect. I knew about the size of the club, that is all. And all the rest is about the people who are working here, and how can you know it before you experience it? Before you feel it, you cannot know it.
"I arrived here like a normal guy and I never lived that (normal life). Whatever will happen in the future I don’t know now.
"But I will have no club, no country (national team) for the next year, and no English club ever.
"I can promise that, even if I have nothing to eat although that will not happen by the way, thanks to Liverpool!"
While he had told the club's owners, Fenway Sports Group, of his intention to quit in November, Klopp only informed his players of the news shortly before it was made public.
Klopp added
You have to be the best version of yourself, especially for a club like Liverpool,"
"I cannot do it on three wheels, it is not allowed, and I have never wanted to be a passenger.
"My managerial skills are based on energy and emotion and that takes all of you and needs all of you and I am who I am and where I am because of how I am, with all the good and bad things.
"And if I cannot do it any more, stop and tell the people. It was not my idea when I signed a new contract, I was 100% convinced in this moment we would go until 2026.
"I underestimated because my energy level was endless and now it is not.
"I have been a manager for 24 years now and when you have the career I have had, it is pretty much impossible to start where I started and arrive at Liverpool.
"But if it becomes possible, it is because you absolutely invested everything you have. That's what I always did and it was never a problem.
"But I realised my resources are not endless. I prefer to pack absolutely everything into this season and then have a break or to stop because you realise we are not young rabbits any more and we don’t jump as high as we once did.
"This club, especially with the team we have and all the super things we have in this club, needs a manager on his top game and top level, and when I cannot be that anymore I have to tell the people that, 100%."
Klopp asked the fans:
"I really hope you can accept the decision. But I'm not in the mood for saying thank you, and I should have said thank you five million times and will do that.
"These things will happen and now it's the rest of the season.
"We should not make these games about me. We need all the support for all the games. We need that and want that.
"Let's squeeze everything out of the season. That's the message."
