Carragher has denied suggestions he is biased towards Liverpool when co-commentating on their matches for Sky Sports.
The Reds legend is frequently seen in the gantry at Anfield and at away grounds on matchdays alongside Gary Neville
Often accused of showing favouritism to their respective clubs, the pair go head-to-head when Liverpool and Manchester United face off and it was Carragher who had the last laugh after watching Jurgen Klopp's side storm to a 7-0 victory
Carragher
"I get stick off Liverpool fans if Liverpool lose. You have got to reflect the moment, that's what co-commentary is. I can only say what I believe to be an opinion. I know, from an Everton point of view, there was the derby game and I got a lot critics. I went after Richarlison, but was that the first time I'd ever gone after Richarlison? I can't stand watching him on a football pitch, I've said it before in other Everton games.
"When I said he went down and I said 'Get up', he had gone down twice already - this was four times in like ten minutes. It wasn't a thing against Everton and Liverpool, it was Richarlison. He winds everybody up. Some people get wound up by diving - I don't. Everyone has two or three players in their team who, if they get a chance of getting a penalty, they will get it. But I have a problem when people go down and pretend that they're hurt. You've gone down and got your free-kick, get up. We all know there is nothing wrong with you."
Carragher added
"People going into now are terrified to do co-commentary. Whoever does it on a game will be trending on Twitter. Even if I'm commentating on Man United v Tottenham, those two teams will just think you hate their team."
"The other thing is people say when Liverpool score he's like 'Liverpool have scored a goal!' but if a last-minute goal goes in, being in the stadium the roof comes off. The season Liverpool nearly won the league (2018/19), that was probably the first season I was doing co-commentary a lot and Liverpool kept scoring in the last minute.
"When people say to me [about being over the top], it doesn't bother me and it won't change me. People say it about Gary, people say it about me and maybe at times it is true ,but what I would say on the flip side is we are probably harder on our own teams as well when things aren't going well."
