'Probably the worst' - Jurgen Klopp explains Darwin Nunez change and Liverpool injury latest

Jurgen Klopp has admitted Liverpool face an anxious wait to see how serious the injuries suffered by Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota against Brentford are.

The pair were both withdrawn in the first half of the Reds’ 4-1 victory over the Bees

Darwin Nunez then joining them in being substituted prematurely after coming off at half-time.

both Jones and Jota were seen leaving the stadium on crutches.

Klopp would explain after the game that the decision to take off Nunez was only precautionary after he felt a little knock

Klopp is braced for bad news regarding Jones and Jota as the midfielder limped off with a leg injury, while the Portuguese was stretchered off

Klopp

“Yeah, yeah, absolutely (the win comes at a cost) but we will have to see how much it costs us,”

“We don’t know with that.

“Yeah (he’s on crutches), but that’s normal. I’ve not spoken to him, I don’t have time. I get carried around the stadium for interviews!

“I don’t know how it developed during the second half. I saw him at half-time and it was alright-ish but I don’t know what happened since then.

“Diogo looks probably the worst. I didn’t see it back but I heard the pictures didn’t look great. We have to see there.

“Darwin, we took off because he said he feels something a little. Today that was enough to immediately push the brake and that’s what we did.

“We took him off, brought on Cody and that worked really well. That’s not great. We can talk about that part of the game, that’s really not good but we cannot change that anymore.

“We have to see how we deal with that now. It’s all fine. That’s the situation, we cannot change that.

“I cannot remember one day since I am in when it was easy with no problems at all. We have problems, probably.

"We don’t know exactly how big they are but we have them. As long as we have 11 players, we go for it!”

Klopp added

“Ali was ill last week and injured this week,” he said. “No other ideas behind it (starting Caoimhin Kelleher). If he hadn’t been ill and hadn’t been injured now, Ali would have played.

“We will see how long Ali is out but Caoimhin is exceptional and today it was an A+ performance.”
