Roy Keane has launched a scathing attack on Virgil van Dijk - accusing the Liverpool captain of arrogance for comments he made about Manchester United.
Van Dijk spoke of his frustration at the result and also claimed that United were 'buzzing' to have picked up a point.
Keane, however, took issue with what Van Dijk had to say, and as well as accusing the centre-back of arrogance
Keane said the defender needs to remember that he is playing for a club that has won just one league title in 30 years and also took issue with him 'slagging' off United.
Keane
"It is a missed opportunity for them, yes, and we heard Van Dijk speaking there - a bit of arrogance from Van Dijk dissing United, he needs to remind himself he’s playing for a club that’s won one title in 30 odd years."
“He said one team wanted to win, like Man United aren’t in a difficult place! Liverpool were in a difficult place for many years before this - maybe that arrogance backfired on him today. That’s arrogance.
"He said Man United were buzzing. United had one or two chances that they could’ve taken, but players like him need a reminder that they’re playing for clubs like Liverpool that aren’t this or that. I wouldn’t be disrespecting clubs like he is."
Daniel Sturridge disagreed with what Keane said, claiming that the defender was simply breaking the game down.
Sturridge
“I don’t think that’s arrogance; he’s just breaking the game down from their perspective. I don’t think it’s arrogance."
Keane, replied saying: "It is, it is arrogance. It might be a bit of frustration, sure, but you can hear it in his tone. He spoke about only one team wanting to win but you still have to go out there and do it.
"That’s what great teams do - championship winning teams like your Man Uniteds, your Man Citys, your Liverpools of the 80’s. He’s got to remember he’s coming from a club that’s won one league title in 33 years!
"He shouldn’t be slagging the other team off like that. Sometimes you have to take a draw, you can’t win every game of football. What’s he talking about?
"The only thing at the end of the game that matters is the scoreline and every week we get stats thrown at us about possession but it’s about putting the ball in the back of the net!
"Whether Man United are buzzing or not, Liverpool had their chances and they didn’t take them. That's got nothing to do with Manchester United, that’s on them. I think he’s out of order."
