Steve McManaman believes this year's title race could yet go down as the Premier League's best
Plenty of titanic tussles for the title have taken place since the league's current inception back in 1992
In recent years it's been Liverpool and Manchester City who have emerged from the pack and forged a rivalry in their pursuit of major honours.
But McManaman believes this year's offering has the potential to eclipse all others.
When he was asked if the title race could go down as the best in Premier League history,
McManaman said
"I hope so because it deserves to. I thought the Liverpool and City one from a couple of years ago where both teams practically won every game until the end of the season. That was extraordinary.
"But a three-horse race is better than a two-horse race every day of the week because once one team drops a point, it's effectively all over with.
“But it doesn't matter when it's like this because they're all so close together and they've all got hard games coming up."
Mcmanaman added:
"I don't think anybody in the football industry can say hand on heart which team will go and win it.
“All we can talk about is past events. We know that the City squad is strong and that they've been in this situation a number of times before -
“I've seen them win 10 on the bounce to go to the end of the season. They've been there and done that before so that's always what edges you towards Manchester City.
"The quality is very good between the three teams and then you couple that with Jurgen leaving and the history between Pep and Mikel Arteta.
“ It's brilliant for the Premier League as a product to go out across the world."
