Rio Ferdinand has revealed why he expects Arsenal to finish above Liverpool in the title race.
Jurgen Klopp’s side battled to a draw, away at reigning champions Manchester City on Saturday
The two clubs sharing a point apiece provided Arsenal with an opportunity to leapfrog both sides into top spot
Arsenal have conceded the fewest goals so far this season (10), though only one less than Liverpool (11).
In the aftermath of the Gunners’ victory in west London, Ferdinand hailed Arsenal’s defence and backed them to be Man City’s closest title rivals,
Ferdinand
“The two centre-backs, they're the reason why I’d put Arsenal ahead of Liverpool in the title race to challenge Manchester City, because I think you can trust those two implicitly at the moment,”
"They’re bang in form and they look like that partnership’s going to grow, the way they're playing.
“They don’t mind coming to places like this and having to fight,”
“That’s the big difference, as well. There’s some players that when it’s going well, they look good.
“These guys don’t mind rolling up their sleeves and doing the ugly stuff, which is a real testament to them as a partnership.”
Ferdinand ended his explanation by stating: “Defences win titles!”
However, having only conceded a goal more and with just two points separating them , Liverpool will still favour their chances of finishing above Mikel Arteta’s side
