Almost three years have now passed since the long-teased transfer of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich was completed
the Spain international arriving mere weeks after helping the German side with the Champions League
The midfielder, though, would be the first to admit his Anfield career hasn't exactly matched initial expectations,
not helped by suffering a serious knee injury during his full debut at Everton that kept him out for more than two months. He'd already missed four games having contracted coronavirus.
Thiago having suffered seven further spells on the sidelines with a variety of complaints
Of the 167 games Liverpool have played following his arrival, the Spaniard has started only 71 with 26 substitute appearances.
Now though the Spaniard has an important role to play over the campaign, as indicated by Jurgen Klopp last Friday
Klopp
He came in and asked about his role and we spoke,"
"Super experienced player, he stepped up in that department. He has only been in team training for a week but very vocal, he is going to be very helpful for us."
Thiago can also aid the adaptation of new signing Szoboszlai and the incoming Endo in making the switch from the Bundesliga to the intense Premier League midfield scrap.
It hasn't quite worked out as Thiago would have wanted at Anfield, but there remains an opportunity for him to help cajole the next iteration of Klopp's side towards success. Liverpool FC Reloaded, Thiago reloaded.
