Trent Alexander-Arnold faces quiet new 'threat' as upgraded Liverpool weapon to become clear

Trent Alexander-Arnold has evolved into the ultimate technician at his boyhood club.

Trent has constantly been encouraged to behave like Liverpool's talisman, as a real playmaker for the Reds even despite his withdrawn role

Still just 24 years old, he is one of only three defenders in Premier League history to accumulate more than 50 assists in the competition, alongside teammate Andy Robertson and ex-Everton star Leighton Baines.

Indeed, over 30 per cent of his assists in England's top flight have originated from dead-ball situations

Trent oversees the majority of the set pieces awarded in favor of Liverpool, with the Reds benefiting from his flawless technique.

The Englishman has also found the net on a number of occasions from those situations. he's scored 12 times in the Premier League across his career, with seven of those coming from set pieces.

Last season, for example, Klopp's men scored more goals than any other team in the from set pieces,

This season, though, the Reds could be in for a change. Liverpool invested in the services of a certain Dominik Szoboszlai

He doesn't occupy the same position on the field as Alexander-Arnold, but he is known for being very technical and almost cultured when he's striking the ball.

In fact, René Marić — who worked with him when he was a promising teenager at Red Bull Salzburg — explained the details of his qualities in a recent interview with Sky Sports.

"We would have a session in the morning or an off-day and I would be working in the office and you look out and he is there on the pitch just taking these amazing free-kicks," said the Austrian coach, who is now assisting Marco Rose at Borussia Dortmund. "He will create danger from set pieces. He has one of the best ball-striking abilities in the world."

In pre-season, Klopp has allowed Szoboszlai to take control of a select few set pieces, with the workload shared among Alexander-Arnold and Robertson.

It seems there is a new kid on the block, and he looks set to take Liverpool's quiet weapon to another level this season putting Alexander-Arnold's position as the primary taker under threat.
