'We are lacking' - Alisson Becker makes Liverpool admission and points to transfer change

Alisson Becker admits Liverpool have plenty of room for improvement in their rebuilding programme as he detailed the change in approach under Jurgen Klopp this season

The new-look Reds maintained their strong start to the campaign

Six regulars from the Liverpool squad that previously swept the honours board under Klopp departed in the summer with Liverpool splashing out more than £150million on four new midfielders

Saturday was only a second this season with only five shut-outs in the last 18 top-flight games despite Liverpool losing only once during that period.

The Brazil international believes a lack of consistency is contributing to the Reds conceding

Alisson

I think we are in a good way but we are just at the beginning of it,"

"Time-wise we are only three months from the start of the rebuilding of this team and this is a really short time to say we've reached our highest level.

"So I think we have so many spaces for improvement, but that doesn't mean the team is bad - it's the opposite.

"We are doing really well in games and doing really good things, but I think we are lacking consistency so far.

"We have to improve to get more of it and defensively we can improve more.

"Consistency means we have to play the full game doing the good stuff defensive-wise and offensive-wise."

Alisson Added

"The team has changed a lot,"

"When I first arrived here, in the first three seasons the team was pretty much the same.

"Not many players came in, but after the first season some players started to go.

"That didn't affect the way we played too much, but it has changed more after last season.

"More players left the club and more players came in so I think that changed a little bit the way that we play.

"Now we look more of a team that likes to keep the ball more - more of a possession team, but still with quick strikers, quick transitions.

"Sometimes we can play really good on the counter-attack as well and we still like to press high.

"So we've changed, but at the same time the strength that we had in the past is in the manager's idea. He's kept that and tries to bring that to this rebuilt team."
