'We didn't realise' - Alexis Mac Allister makes Arsenal admission and names 'amazing' Liverpool youngster

Alexis Mac Allister believes Liverpool have shown how they can cope with their growing absentee list -

Mac Allister pinpointed the mentality that helped them secure a memorable FA Cup triumph.

It was their first game without Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo

With the ill Virgil van Dijk having joined Dominik Szoboszlai, Kostas Tsimikas, Andy Robertson, Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip and Stefan Bajcetic on the sidelines.

Mac Allister had particular praise for Academy graduates Jarell Quansah, Conor Bradley and Bobby Clark, the latter two who were introduced as substitute

Mac Allister

"We know how important they are for us, Virgil, Endo and Mo, but we always say that the other players have to step up and do their job,"

"(Jarell) Quansah had an amazing game so it’s something we have to keep proving every single game because we are definitely going to miss them.

"I'm very happy for the young players as well who came into the game at a tough moment. I’m really happy for them because they deserved it."

A tactical switch from Klopp at half-time turned the game in the favour of the visitors.

Mac Allister added

"Maybe in the first half they were better and had more opportunities, but second half we defended very well and we showed our mentality,"

"(Arsenal) did it very well and there was so much space in between us so that was not good because we always say where there is space it’s harder to defend.

"We corrected some things, we pressed a little bit more, we counter-attacked which is something that helps and we scored the goals

"First half we didn’t realise that they were doing this one-v-one over the whole pitch but the second half we learned.

"We played some long balls and put them into Darwin (Nunez) and Lucho (Luis Diaz) in behind and that was very important and they did well to help the team to attack and score goals."
