The season was going an awful lot differently for Fabio Carvalho when Liverpool last crossed swords with West Ham United.
Back in October, the attacking midfielder was still enjoying a honeymoon period at Anfield following his arrival from Fulham for an initial £5million in the summer.
There had, though, been signs Carvalho was having trouble adapting, the 20-year-old replaced at half-time of successive starts at Everton - although that was injury-related - and home to Brighton and Hove Albion and, against West Ham, removed before the hour.
since that game at the City Ground, the player has featured for just five minutes over two brief substitute appearances in the Premier League.
Carvalho, who was born in Lisbon but moved to London 10 years ago, was also the subject of intrigue in November when he surprisingly rejected the chance to continue playing for Portugal U21s
Klopp has again detailed the youngster remains impressive in training, Carvalho has been linked with a possible loan move next season with Porto reportedly interested.
Jürgen Klopp:
"I would like to make all these decisions with the boys before we talk (publicly) about it," said Klopp. "There is no decision in any direction yet.
"What I can say is that this week in training he was exceptional again. He's really outstanding. So, yes, we will talk to each other and then we will see what we will do - what he wants, what I think, but there's no decision yet."
